Maeva Roberge donated to the Douglas Foundation
I was looking for organizations related to mental health and research, and this one seems comprehensive and beneficial. I really think we need more help with mental health because it is as important as physical health, and most mental illnesses are still taboo in our society. We need to support more research endeavours.
Dilpreet Singh donated to the Rainbow Resource Centre
The Rainbow Resource Centre offers support to the 2SLGBTQ+ community in the form of counselling, education, and programming for individuals of all ages. The Youth Program offers 2SLGBTQ+ youth a safe, fun place to learn new skills, create projects, and celebrate identities. I have personally sought help from this organization for mental health counseling when I was struggling with my coming out, so this organization in particular is really close to me.
Rose Rivera donated to Pflag Canada
Pflag Canada is an organization founded by parents who wish to help children and families who are going through the coming out process or are dealing with issues related to their sexual orientation. I hope this donation helps Pflag Canada continue to support and help people who, like me, might feel closeted, those who are feeling lost, and those who are in need of guidance and emotional support.
Aleni Cronkwright donated to the 519
The 519 is an agency located on Church Street in the City of Toronto's Gay Village. Its mission is to improve the LGBTQIA+ community's overall well-being through counselling, advocating, and creating safe spaces.
Raymond Takla and Laurence Blain donated to GRIS-Montréal
GRIS-Montréal is a great nonprofit organization that works to facilitate the inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in our society. As a member of this community, I remember noticing the glaring lack of sexual diversity inclusion at my high school. GRIS-Montréal prioritizes in-school interventions to promote sexual diversity education and break the taboos surrounding it. I believe this contribution can help many young people who feel lost regarding their sexuality find their way and receive as much education and information as a young straight person.
Thank you to everyone who participated and our winners for their thoughtful contributions!
